Computers are based on 3 primary foundations of work
groups in order to create a functioning long term goal. The 3 foundations are
Networking (including hardware), Programming, and Design. One cannot grow
without the other. After 10 years of doing graphic/ web design, the feeling of
not being able to push the envelope began to tighten. Dynamic RIAs are where the
future of communication is headed. We originally saw this when Macromedia, now
Adobe, presented Flash.
Flash led me to learn Action Script. After reading
numerous Flash programming books, there was a pattern that there were tid bits
of information for designers to use in the interfaces, but were not used to
teach the language. There were development Action Script books that were
written for developers.
This two-tone set of books styles led me to pursue and
further my education. I am currently working on my 2nd degree in Computer
Information Systems (CIS) at the University of Louisville. There are currently a
few different “pathways” in the CIS major. There is the developer, which I am
currently pursuing. It is based on Microsoft tools and languages that allows us
to learn to build business applications, development work flow, and web
development. It teaches us to teach ourselves, since development is an ever
changing field. The other pathway is infosec, which teaches security such as
database security and encryption algorithms.
The excitement of learning
languages that enable the ability to build new tools and interfaces is very
exciting. The ability to take what I have learned and combine it with GUI
design, that was learned in my prior school and during my professional career,
allows me to see both sides of the end goal.
This website is the ever growing,
end-goal of what is being accomplished through higher learning. I could not have
done with without the help of my professors, classmates, friends, and family.
